LLM at MSSES

The Univerity of Manchester validates the LLM at MSSES.
The LLM at MSSES was designed by Moscow academic staff with advice and input from Manchester academic staff. Teaching is by Moscow academic staff.

The LLM at MSSES was developed in order to provide an opportunity for Russian students to take a UK LLM without the need to leave Russia.

The LLM in Moscow was designed for the Russian context, taking into account the needs of Russian students and employers and therefore the content is different.

The LLM in Moscow is the same academic qualification as the LLM in Manchester and meets all the requirements of the UK academic framework. There is equivalence in academic standards and quality assurance.

It would not be possible or appropriate to take an LLM in Moscow and an LLM in Manchester simultaneously. You would need to choose to apply for either the LLM in Manchester or the LLM in Moscow. The programmes are separate.

The LLM is an academic qualification. In order to practise in the UK, the requirements of the relevant professional body must be taken into account.

If you wish to apply to take a PhD in Manchester, either now or after taking an LLM, you would need to consult the relevant pages on the University of Manchester's website.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law at MSSES would be able to advise you on the suitability of the LLM in Moscow.

The overall mission of the Faculty is to train legal specialists within the framework of comparative law to meet the latest requirements in the field, to play a role in the development of legislation and other improvements in Russia's legal system.

Students develop a range of transferable skills in the discipline which are in high demand by employers in the field Students develop an understanding of law not just in terms of legislation but of its role in the society; they learn the universal language of law and study domestic law from a comparative standpoint, thus integrating the current Russian law into a more general context.
