The Counselling programme at the Moscow School differs from other programmes in this field in Russia by being a Russian-British programme trying to introduce Western approaches and methods of psychological counselling the Russian environment. A unique feature of this programme is that it combines counselling in the three main areas of human life (personal, family and work) and thereby allows a person to reflect on the basic goals and values of human existence. On successful completion of the programme students are awarded a Master of Arts in Counselling of University of Manchester and Russian State Diploma in professional retraining or Russian postgraduate state diploma. The Faculty offers two specializations: Individual family counselling or Organizational psychology and personnel management. The programme achieves coherence between theoretical and applied aspects, and uses appropriate teaching and learning methods, including practical counselling sessions, for the development of a wide range of skills which will be essential in various areas of work in the field. The programme structure allows students to appreciate the breadth of the discipline with their studies encompassing different types of knowledge and skills that are characteristic of the discipline in the UK and internationally. The curriculum map in the Programme Specification ensures that the course units fit together into a coherent programme which provides opportunities to achieve all the programme learning outcomes. |
